A representation of players from Strasbourg Gaels came to visit us in St Jakobs Park to have a mix of training and a game together. Due to their commitments preparing for a forthcoming European championship tournament, they were just in the position to field their 7 a side team.
It was however a concrete acknowledgement and another step in the building of the friendship that has developed between Basel GAA and Strasbourg Gaels, which has started to be built from a visit we made to their training session in February 2024 as well as playing jointly together at the St Patrick’s tournament in March 2024 in Zürich.
This was also a good exercise for Basel, who fielded an adult football team selection
for the first time this season at home. Our plan is to train at the same time as our feile group during the playing season every Sunday morning 11:00 – 13:00 at St Jakobs Park until summer break 16th June.
After the summer we will start training when the second half of the season starts back 18th August. In the meantime, there is also the Swiss playing day which will take place in Zürich on July 21st, where all players who are available to play are welcome.
