Dear Members,
On behalf of the club committee, it gives me great pleasure to address you in the first newsletter of 2025.
I hope everyone had a nice break over Christmas and 2025 has gotten off to a great start!
2025 promises to be a great year for Basel GAA, particularly as 2025 marks our 10-year anniversary. More to come on how we mark the occasion!
It is incredible to see where the club has come from its first get together in 2015 with a handful of keen GAA enthusiasts, to a boisterous club with over 100 members from many corners of the world. Nothing transcends quite like the GAA!
To think that Basel GAA has represented in both adult and youth competitions in many countries across Europe in recent years was probably a wild dream for those founders.
We should all be proud of what Basel GAA has become today and excited for what the future holds.
There has been no time to sit on our hands at Basel GAA and the year is already up and running – we have had two committee meetings, and the committee is busy planning for the year ahead. Our Feile team began their preparations for Amsterdam on Sunday last in Schützenmatt Park. It was heartening to see such a strong turnout, and I understand the cappuccino club also managed to source a local brew!
2025 will be the first year that adult hurling/camogie and football tournaments are held on Swiss soil in Zurich and we are also planning an event in Basel focused on our youths. Stay tuned for our club calendar!
I would like to thank you all for your contributions and the selfless volunteering provided to the club and hope that you continue on this journey with us.

Liebe Mitglieder,
im Namen des Vorstands freue ich mich sehr, mich im ersten Newsletter des Jahres 2025 an euch zu wenden.
Ich hoffe, dass alle eine schöne Weihnachtspause hatten und das Jahr 2025 gut begonnen hat.
2025 verspricht ein großartiges Jahr für Basel GAA zu werden, insbesondere, da 2025 unser 10-jähriges Jubiläum markiert. Weitere Informationen dazu, wie wir dieses Ereignis feiern werden, werden folgen.
Es ist unglaublich zu sehen, wie sich der Club seit seinem ersten Treffen im Jahr 2015 mit einer Handvoll begeisterter GAA-Enthusiasten zu einem lebhaften Club mit über 100 Mitgliedern aus vielen Teilen der Welt entwickelt hat. GAA ist wunderbar.
Wenn man bedenkt, dass Basel GAA in den letzten Jahren sowohl bei Erwachsenen- als auch bei Jugendwettbewerben in vielen Ländern Europas vertreten war, war das für die Gründer wahrscheinlich ein wilder Traum.
Wir alle können stolz darauf sein, was aus Basel GAA geworden ist, und wir freuen uns auf die Zukunft.
Wir hatten keine Zeit, die Hände in den Schoß zu legen, und das Jahr ist bereits in vollem Gange – wir hatten zwei Ausschusssitzungen und der Ausschuss ist mit der Planung für das kommende Jahr beschäftigt. Unser Feile-Team hat am vergangenen Sonntag im Schützenmatt-Park mit den Vorbereitungen für Amsterdam begonnen. Es war ermutigend, eine so starke Beteiligung zu sehen, und ich habe gehört, dass der Cappuccino-Club auch ein lokales Gebräu aufgetrieben hat 😊
2025 werden zum ersten Mal Hurling-/Camogie- und Fußballturniere für Erwachsene auf Schweizer Boden in Zürich stattfinden, und wir planen auch eine Veranstaltung in Basel, die sich an unsere Jugendlichen richtet. Bleibt dran an unserem Clubkalender!
Ich möchte euch allen für eure Beiträge und die selbstlose ehrenamtliche Arbeit für den Club danken und hoffe, dass ihr diesen Weg mit uns weitergehen werdet.
